A regional journal for public decisions

The New Democrat Civic Review examines how public commitments become services residents can see, use and evaluate.

Our coverage

Founded in 2016, the Review covers municipal bond accountability, regional transit and port infrastructure, digital skills workforce programs, and collegiate and high-school scholastic esports and STEM leagues. We aim to explain public systems in plain language and make assumptions visible.

Editorial responsibility

Chesapeake Civic Media Group LLC publishes the Review. Marcus Halvorsen serves as Managing Editor. Analysis is identified as analysis; estimates are labeled with their assumptions; and corrections are made transparently when the record warrants them.
